All in a days work

Q:- What do you do when a cat escapes and finds a hole to get underneath the clinic?

A:- Get the vet student to get it.

Picture this. Last consult of the day, simple vaccination. The sky is darkening, as if some evil was approaching. Thunder sounds on the horizon. When all of a sudden, the nurse bursts in and asks what the usual procedure is for when cats escape and crawl underneath the clinic...

We tried everything to tempt the beast out. The owner lied down and called out its name, we heated up some tuna which only worked up our own appetites. We tried flashing very large flashlights straight into its eyes. That didn't really work either...
So eventually, hours later, we were left with the terrible risk of sacrificing one of our own in the quest for animal health. But while the staff were arguing, one man stepped out and went to his knees. Crawling under the clinic, ignoring the life-threatening situation he was putting himself in, he pushed the cobwebs out of the way, destroying the venomous creatures at their hearth, he pushed on until he could extend his grasp towards the beast and seize it in mid-flight.
Then, as if by blind madness, he crawled back through the disturbed cobwebs holding in one hand a cat that had turned itself into a mass of claws and teeth, using it to fend off fist-sized redback spiders that had by now come to their senses and were defending their kingdom with their lives.
Bruised and scratched, our hero emerges from the darkness with cat in hand, calmly giving it to the young attractive and of course scantly clad owner. He smiles safe in the knowledge that, today, another animal may be free from disease.
